I’d like to know if I connect the PS3 system via Optical, would the audio be in 5.1 surround? ?

I have a PS3 and planning on purchasing a DAV-HDX275 Sony BRAVIA Theater System.

If you connect the PS3 to your surround receiver with an optical audio cable, and if the game or movie you are using supports surround sound, then you’ll get surround sound from the speakers.

One final tip, if you’re using a HDMI cable for video, be sure you go into the XMB under Audio options and turn HDMI audio OFF. Otherwise, the PS3 will only send the audio signal on the HDMI cable. For some stupid reason the PS3 is unable to send the audio signal on multiple outputs like every other device I have… Stupid Sony.
