Don’t Exhaust Yourself: Business Casual Staple Items for Women
Dressing business casual without completely abandoning your sense of personal style can be an uphill battle. Business casual dress codes vary greatly depending on the company; with some organizations allowing for an edgier, trendier business casual, while others have a much stricter, more standard policy. Don’t exhaust yourself, there are certain staple items that will look stylish and still be appropriate in any business casual office environment.
Slacks
Investing in several high quality slacks is always a smart choice. You can easily rotate the same few pair with various shirts, blouses and blazers that will work for many different working environments. When choosing your slacks, invest in neutral colors like black, gray and brown. You’ll be able to wear them with almost anything.
Blazer
A well-fitted blazer is a must-have for business casual environments. They’re comfortable and you easily wear a short-sleeved shirt underneath and remove the blazer when appropriate. It’s also great for keeping you warm in chilly office environments. When choosing a blazer, stick with neutral designs and colors. Similar to slacks, you want it to be easily mixed and matched with other clothing items. The blazer will also be in style for much longer in a neutral, classic style.
Skirt
Skirts are great to wear during warm summer months. They also transition well into evening wear for after work drinks. Choosing a trendy style is okay; just make sure the length doesn’t go above the knees. Patterns and fun designs are okay just make sure to avoid anything too wild for work. You may want to consider purchasing a few neutral skirts that will work well with your blazers. It can easily turn a business causal outfit into more formal attire.
