George brown college Toronto, dangerous area ?

Is george brown college in Toronto in a dangerous area ? im talking about the business campus near sherbourne and king.. im particularly new there so i was wondering how it would be going to school everyday walking or via ttc… also is getting an apartment on sherbourne a good idea ? I dunno i heard someone saying that area is creepy and messed up.. how bout at night ?
Any other areas in downtown toronto i should avoid renting an apartment at ?
Appreciate any replies
thank you so much

The area around the campus is fine and safe. I would say stay below Queen Street if you can north of there it can get a little creepy, there are a couple of homeless shelters and low income housing further north. I would say go a bit either to the east or west if you want to stay downtown. There are a few apartment blocks around Jarvis & Wellesley area and closer to Bloor. If you want go to www.viewit.ca, or check craig’s list and you’ll be able to find a nice place with pictures to look at before you go see it.
