Can I do it?
Is it possible to go from a personal assistant to a fashion magazine editor?
The reason I’m asking is because I have the intentions of becoming an intern in college (while being a receptionist somewhere) at a magazine or fashion house, major in journalism, others in communications, typing, foreign language, etc. I can’t plan out my exact curriculum. But you get the point? Then after I get a college degree, become a personal assistant to someone in the fashion/magazine business. But my question is:
Is there anyway I can go from being a personal assistant (preferably to a fashion editor) to a fashion editor myself?
And if so, how should I go about it? Meaning, what classes should I take, internship suggestions, years of prior experience, etc.?
Oh, and what can I do now? I’m only 13, haha.
But I really want to know if there’s anyway to prep for this?
By the way, my electives for next year are yearbook journalism and spanish. I’m also an A/B student.
Thanks for helping
What you can do is write to as many fashion magazine editors as you can (the smaller the mag the more likely chance you will get a response but don’t let that stop you from contacting as many as you can) and ask them what they did to get there and what advice they have for you.
The key thing is how much do you WANT it? Are you willing to forgo everything else in order to get it?
If you need to know how to do something, ask someone who has already done it?
