The Benefits Of University Ranking
Undoubtedly the top ranked universities in Singapore are NUS and NTU!
Each year Forbes, US News & World Report, The Princeton Review, and quite a few others release what they declare to be the official ranking of America’s colleges and universities. These go-to guides for every little thing from most costly school to most effective on-campus food are often regarded as doctrine among the educational community and are responsible for swaying quite a few potential college students towards or away from a college. But how accurate are these rankings and just how much can they genuinely be trusted? If you are the parent of a soon-to-be college student or a student yourself, read this list to recognize why college rankings must be taken having a grain of salt.
National University of Singapore (NUS) is ranked 33 in the Instances Higher Education Supplement’s World University Rankings 2007.
According towards the Economic Times (FT) 2006 EMBA ranking of the Top 85 EMBA programs, NUS Business enterprise School rises in rankings for Executive MBA programs to be amongst world’s Top 29.
NUS Organization School did particularly nicely in two of the sub-categories – it came out Top five for the categories of ‘International Attendees’, and ‘Top Salaries in IT/ Telecommunications’.

Here’s an example: Say you’re a potential student interested in attending Florida State University in 2011. Before you make a decision, you are going to check out some rankings of the school in numerous categories and publications. To be thorough, you are also going to see how the university has advanced or declined by checking out statistics from past years. But now take a look at The Princeton Review, which in the very same breath referred to as Florida State the #5 Best Public Institution in 2009, and #9 for top 20 party schools that exact same year. And that is not all. In 2009, The Princeton Review also named Florida State the #7 school where students study the least!

3. Colleges Don’t Play Fair

Each year, these presidents and high ranking admissions staffers are inundated by mailings, reports and promotional swag inside the hopes that it is going to enhance their opinion and consequently their ranking of a college or university.
4. This is all nicely and good, except for the fact that a college administrator for the University of California, Berkley may know next to nothing about Old Dominion University in Virginia or Florida State University for that matter, besides what some beefed-up promotional mailings inform them.
