Problems detecting externel hard disk?

I have a 120 GB western digital Enhanced IDE hard drive which I use externally via a normally casing. Recently I bought HDD Player casing. (it says 2.5″ HDD Player, Multimedia HDD Cinema on the box) . However when I connected the hard disk to the new casing and connected to TV, there was no picture. Then I connected to my PC, although it picked up a removable storage, I cannot see the hardisk either in My computer or Disk management.
So can someone help me out and tell me whats happening?
Thanx
