Question about dvd/surround sound/direct tv hook up?
Hey i recently brought this new sony home theatre system and i learned through one of the geeks at best buy that i should buy the system that doesnt have the dvd player already in the receiver to get all my audio through my speakers when just watching tv so i did. On my receiver it does have hdmi hook ups for dvd,tv and it says sat/cable. Now im going to run a hdmi cable from my dvd player to the theatre receiver and then a hdmi cable from my direct tv box to the receiver and then a hdmi from the receiver to the tv. Once thats hooked up do i need any other cords from the other components to the back of my tv and if not how will i get each to play like how does the tv recognize that my dvd player is on etc etc.???
All of your input switching is now handled through the receiver. Your TV doesn’t have to know which source you’re selecting, it just takes what the receiver sends to it & displays it on the screen.
