Home Theater HDMI Question?

I am planning on buying a new home theater. At the moment I have a flat screen tv, hd cable box and a xbox 360. I would like to hook them all up to my speaker system, using an optical out for the xbox or hdmi if possible. I would also prefer to have my cable box go to the home theater using hdmi and an hdmi cable to the tv. I’m basically not sure how to hook all of these up, and what type of home theater i would need. I’ve come to find out that finding a home theater with multiple hdmi ports is a difficult task. I would like to keep my expenses below $300, does anyone know how I could hook all these up or a system that would fit what I need?

At that price range you should have no trouble finding an A/V receiver that will have multiple HDMI inputs and 5.1 or 7.1 surround capability (I’m assuming you have speakers based on your question). prices for name brand receivers (e.g. Pioneer, Sony, Denon, Onkyo, Yamaha) start at about $200.

If you need speakers too … at that budget you are limited to what is called a “home theater in a box”. I don’t generally recommend them since quality tends to be low … but for $300 it’s really your only choice.
