Free dvd software that supports 5.1 Surround sound?

I want to set up a home theater system through my pc, but I can’t enable 5.1 surround sound support through any of my dvd programs without having to pay a fee for upgrading. I was wondering if there are other dvd software providers that have this feature for free. However, it has to be software that does not expire over time or has annoying tracking cookies. If there is no software that meets the above requirements, could someone explain to me how else I can enable 5.1 channel support for dvd’s on my computer? Any help would be gladly appreciated. (NOTE- My computer hardware is fully capable of supporting dolby digital 5.1, all I need is a program that can utilitize it for movies )
