How do I hook a Home Theater System?
I would like to know the “Best” way, and the “Best” connections to hook up my Home Theater system. I have the following components:
50″ Panasonic Plasma TV
Direct TV Satelite box (Not High Definition)
Sony HT-Z410 Home Theater System
This thing’s giving me FITS. I have it hooked up, but I’m NOT impressed, as all the reviews say they are. Please remember, I’m a high school drop out, and just a dumb ole truck driver, so the simplest you can keed it, the better. …….. Thanx a million in advance
I told ya that I’m just a dumb ole truck drive lol
I stand corrected- It’s a “SAMSUNG”
Your first problem is you are feeding the modern HDTV with standard def video that was the height of technology back in 1950.
Standard def video looks horrible on a HDTV and there is just no getting around it.
Hook up an antenna and have the TV scan for channels. You will be shocked at how good that TV looks when feeding it more modern signals.
Type your address into www.antennaweb.org and it will show you where the TV towers are around your home and it will recommend a size of antenna you need.
Or upgrade your DirectTV service to a HD receiver. I strongly recommend the DVR/PVR receivers so the box can record your shows while you are away and they are just sitting there waiting for you to come home. It is actually easier than a VCR to use. (Trust me on this).
Antenna: if you are lucky enough, the Phillips Silver Sensor – Classic is a $25 indoor antenna that is very good at picking up signals.
Cables: if you need a HDMI cable – you can spend $100 at the store for Monster, or $30 at www.bluejeanscables.com I have used BlueJeans for years and they sell real good cables for budget prices.
