Troubleshooting Home Theatre system?
I have an Onkyo receiver (TX-SR606) connected to a Samsung 40″ LCD TV and a Panasonic Blu Ray player. I have noticed two issues and have tried everything (swapping the receiver for another one and a Sony Blu Ray player for the Panasonic) but they do not go away.
a) When I switch from one input to another (e.g. Tuner to DVD) or mute / unmute, I hear a popping sound on my surround speakers. This also happens when I switch channels on my satellite receiver (I have Dish Network)
b) DVDs produce a background noise that I can hear if there is no sound from the DVD (e.g. FBI warning). This happens both with Sony and Panasonic Blu Rays but not with a regular Sony HD DVD player. I have tried different HDMI cables and switching to a different HDMI slot in the receiver.
I have not bundled audio and power cables but they do overlap. Any help will be appreciated.

Is your reciever hooked up to the same power strip as your subwoofer?
Try switching it.
