Lenovo has finally (officially) launched the world’s first dual-screen laptop, the ThinkPad W700ds, putting some of the mystery around it to rest. The limelight is obviously on the two screens – the main display being 17-inches, with a second 10-inches slide-out screen. And no, the second screen doesn’t weigh down badly on the laptop – just anticipate the ThinkPad W700ds to be half an inch thicker than its predecessor W700. The spring-loaded secondary display is housed within a “pocket door” configuration and can be angled upto 30-degrees.

The other specs include a NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700M graphics card, 8GB RAM, WiFi, support for Dual-Link DVI, Display Port and VGA, a 7-in-1 multicard reader and five USB ports. Some select models also offer WiMAX and an optional fingerprint reader, a smartcard reader and hard drives with full-disk encryption. The device is priced starting at $3,663 and according to Lenovo, it is to be available immediately from the Lenovo website, though a search on the site stills reveals no information on the availability. A must dekko if you are in the field of graphics design or the likewise.

Somehow Macworld this year just doesn’t feel the same. With Phil Schiller set to deliver the keynote instead of Steve Jobs, the buzz around Macworld is less.

However Macworld is still Macworld. This is also Apple’s last participation in the expo and thus I hope that Apple goes out with a bang. Here are some news bits regarding Macworld.

Rumor: 17″ inch Unibody MacBook Pro to be unveiled - 9to5mac.com reports that the 17″ Unibody MacBook Pro is set to make its debut during MacWorld. It will also sport a non-removable batter.

Rumor: Mac Mini to get dual display support - AppleInsider reports that the Mac Mini will get dual display support. It’s also set to debut during MacWorld along with an iMac update.

Apple Co-founder Steve Wozniak to appear at Macworld - The other Steve will make an appearance at Macworld. He’ll be on hand at the unveiling of the latest products of Axiotron, the makers of the Modbook.

If you’re attending the expo please be sure to check out the Macworld Expo Digital Art Gallery. It’s back after a 2 year vacation. Selected digital artists will get the opportunity to showcase their work for all the world to see. The exhibit will be featured in the hallway between the two halls. Go check it out.

After the announcement of the second stimulus package on Friday last, markets are expected to open gap today. The Asian markets have also opened higher today morning. Nikkei-225 is trading up 2% ,Hang Seng and Straits times are also up by 1% and 1.68% respectively currently. But some how it looks difficult that markets will sustain at higher levels so much. After a small rally markets may even come down. Profit booking will take place at higher levels.

The stimulus package which was announced was more or less expected by marketmen. Sectors like auto, banks, real estate and cements are likely to open higher today. But you need to check how long can they survive at those levels. Some of the intraday calls for today include :

Buy India Infoline  above 69, Stop Loss: 67,Target: 74,76.

Buy IDFC above 72, Stop Loss: 69,Target : 76,77

Buy Punj Lloyd above 159,Stop Loss: 157,Target : 162, 165

Buy DLF above 301, Stop Loss : 298, Target: 309,311.

Check them out with strict stop loss figures. You can even short sell some of them at higher levels to get some more profits again with strict stop loss in mind. 10,000 on sensex and 3000 on nifty are major hurdles at the moment, so remain cautious. Once these levels are crossed and markets sustain above them then we can expect some more rally till 3080 or 3120 in nifty.
