Want to get a home theatre system for the first time.I am clueless..Wondering if this is a good system to buy.?
Well,I purchased a new 50 inch Samsung plasma tv.This is my first flat screen purchase so I’m clueless about set up and add ons.I want to have a good sound setup so I was thinking about purchasing this 6 speaker 1,000 watt system I think it was Phillips for $178 in Walmart.I’m not trying to spend alot because I am on a budget and not looking for the top brand.I don’t want to spend over $230.I figure 1,000 watts would be loud.Any help would be appreciated.
Also,if anybody knows how exactly a soundbar works?Cause I saw it in the store when I bought my tv.Is it better then a theatre system or shoud you have both.This is all very new to me.I thank anybody that answers.
A sound bar still does not provide a true surround like 5.1 speakers will. That Phillips brand is well known for not being good. Neither is RCA which is even worse. I know what you are asking, but in reality those HTIB (home theater in a box) are usually made from sub standard parts overseas from what ever they can assemble from the cheapest parts supplier. I’ve never found Wal Mart to be the seller of choice in these matters. They like so many cut rate retailers just buy what what they think is good. The problem is, it’s not good. I, like so many people out here, have been into home theater for a long time. I would not be caught dead with such a system in my place. It’s an insult to my ears. Your have a nice TV now. Now your gonna want to maximize it’s picture with a good Blu-ray. After all, that is what it was built for. Down below is a good receiver/speaker set. Add a Sony BDP-S360 Blu-ray player & you’ll have a system that rocks & will put all of neighbors systems to shame. Plz, whatever you do, don’t buy those HTIB systems. They are so not worth it. So many people here write in about why their systems are garbage. I see it here daily. They all have one thing in common, cheap quality. All it does is force you to buy another one later, and another one, etc… And when all is said & done, had you bought the right equipment the 1st time, you would only have had to buy it once.
